80-inch British Military Bronze Green

80-inch British Military Bronze Green

When the war department ordered a large batch of Land Rovers in 1949, it asked for them to be supplied in Bronze Green, which was then the standard non-operational livery for British military vehicles. In order to avoid complication on the assembly line, the Solihull factory switched to Bronze Green as the standard colour for civilian models too, as military models had no significant differences from civilian types. Bronze Green is still considered to be the traditional Land Rover colour, although it was in fact deleted from the standard options list in 1988. (Source Land Rover)
